Hull City's Championship campaign kicked off on Saturday with a score draw at home to Bristol City. Óscar Estupiñán's injury time penalty saw the Tigers cancel out Fally Mayulu's opener and ensure that new boss Tim Walter did not walk away from his first game empty handed.
City's draw with the Robins also saw a number of debutants in black and amber. Ivor Pandur and Marvin Mehlem both started from the off whilst more recent arrivals Liam Millar and Finley Burns had to settle for cameos off the bench.
Despite six players already making the move to East Yorkshire this summer, the staggering number of departures means that the Tigers still need to get further deals over the line. One area in dire need of reinforcements is the right wing with City linked with transfers for a number of players who operate in this part of the pitch.
Here's a look at some of the right wingers touted for a move to Hull City as the Tigers look to fill the vacancy on their righthand side.
Jesurun Rak-Sakyi - Crystal Palace
As far as the Tigers' quest for a new right winger is concerned, no name has been more prevalent than that of Jesurun Rak-Sakyi. The Crystal Palace youngster is set to depart Selhurst Park this summer with City one of many teams to have thrown their hat into the ring for the 21-year-old.
The latest development on this transfer comes courtesy of journalist Alan Nixon who claims that Leeds United have made a £15million bid for Rak-Sakyi. Despite this, Palace appear intent on sending the winger out on loan this summer with Sheffield United joining the Tigers as the current front-runners for the player's signature.
Whilst Rak-Sakyi's most recent campaign was curtailed by a season ending hamstring injury, the winger earned many plaudits for his exploits during a loan spell with Charlton Athletic back in 2022/23.
Contributing fifteen goals and ten assists during his time with the Addicks, the then teenager stood out as a direct wide man with a keen eye for a goal. In a similar vein to the outgoing Jaden Philiogene, the 21-year-old is an exciting presence with no shortage of tricks up his sleeve to beat an opposing full back.
Rak-Sakyi is the kind of player who can win games on his own, creating goals out of nothing and making defences look silly in the process. If City are to get a deal for the winger over the line, they would no doubt have one of the league's most talented stars on their hands.
With a new team popping up each day in the race to secure Rak-Sakyi's services, this deal could be one that gets drawn out right up to the August 30th deadline.
Kasey McAteer - Leicester City
With the Tigers probably not eager to enter a bidding war with sides in receipt of parachute payments, the club are also looking at other loan options to fill the void on the right wing. A report from BBC Sport last week suggested that Leicester City's Kasey McAteer remains a target for Walter's side.
The East Yorkshire outfit are joined by Cardiff City in their pursuit of the 22-year-old who is set to leave the King Power Stadium following the Foxes' promotion back to the Premier League.
McAteer featured 23 times during Leicester's title winning campaign last season, finding the back of the net on six occasions. Whilst the Englishman was often confined to appearances off the bench, McAteer still stood out as one of the league's most talented young wingers.
Whilst McAteer's attacking stats are impressive in their own right, the 22-year-old's defensive proficiency is something unique for his position. With Walter's preferred system focusing on committing men forward, having a winger who can stop opposition transitions could be a massive asset to the Tigers over the course of the season.
If the Rak-Sakyi saga concludes with the winger snubbing the MKM Stadium for a move to a recently relegated outfit, there is no doubt that McAteer would be a more than effective back up option.
Abu Kamara - Norwich City
Whilst arguably no side has seen a mass exodus of talent on the scale of Hull City, the Tigers have not been the only side to lose star players this summer. Norwich City recently said goodbye to Gabriel Sara with fellow talents Jonathan Rowe and Adam Idah also looking to be on the move.
With the Canaries braced for further departures before the end of this month, the Tigers could pounce on an opportunity to pick up a highly-rated young talent in the form of Abu Kamara. A recent X post by Football Insider's Pete O'Rourke suggested that City were considering a bid for the 21-year-old winger.
Kamara spent the last campaign on loan at Portsmouth, playing a vital role in Pompey's promotion to the Championship. During his 52 game spell at Fratton Park, the winger contributed 10 goals and 11 assists.
Speaking on the Kamara's quality, Portsmouth coach John Mousinho was quick to praise the player, telling the press:"Abs is a player we’ve been excited about having this season. He’s been excellent every single game he’s played,
"When he adds that composure, because he’s got the quality, he’s a fantastic player. One of my things with Abs is that he stays positive and keeps getting at his player. If he’s not having the best day he still needs to do it again, again and again."
After playing just fourteen minutes in the Canaries' opening day defeat at the hands of Oxford United, there is every chance that the England youth international could be pushing for a move away from East Anglia this summer in search of more regular game time.
If the higher ups at the MKM Stadium are eager to move away from last season's reliance on loan talents, signing a player of Kamara's quality on a permanent basis could be the best piece of business City does all summer.
